The crew then explained they were observing “two lights dancing around”. As the approach continued, their descriptions evolved. These points are sometimes overstated. None demonstrates that the lights represented an unknown craft.

Instead, they establish something narrower:

  • the crew genuinely reported an unexplained visual observation;
  • no routine air traffic was known to match the report at that time;
