Why four claimed witnesses do not equal four accounts

At first glance, the story appears stronger than a solitary sighting because it supposedly involved four children. On closer inspection, however, almost all of the available information comes from one adult recalling what happened decades earlier.

The witness stated that he later asked his brother whether he remembered the incident, and his brother reportedly said that he did, although he had largely forgotten it until prompted. The witness also explained that he had lost contact with the other two boys and hoped they could eventually be located.
